Drum Jam...

Well i have never been to any kind of jam(music i.e) in my life before...decided i wont be missing many more in the future...yesterday Aj told me to check out a band called Drum Jam on their website...they were like having a Jam today...so we decided to go along..and my cousin bro tagged along...
We were late (Aj was early)....but not late enough to sit in the sun..just managed to get a good seat inside the tent...all of us were given drums of different kinds and shapes...and whilst we were waiting for the organizers to organize something..(duh!!!).. we were drumming to our sivamanish rhythms... :).... it started...some dude called robreto(dunno ...for sure!!!)...started telling us cues to play differently..it was nice...i mean for a no-go drummer(i.e me)... could follow...so then we started creating symphonies after that...oops exaggerating...i mean we were split into groups impromptu..and told to play different beats and rhythms...oh almost forgot Vasundhra Das is also a part of this group...this continued with some vocals from Vasundhra Das...man she is good...and some tv coverage...(was this the original reason???...sorry for being a skeptic)...and after a 2 hr intense experience...i just have to say it was EXHILARATING..

Birthday Celebrations!!

Celebrated Preetha's birthday today...nothing unusual ,as in almost a week late..... :) .went to her place around 6:30 i think...cut the cake...each one of us pulling each others leg...fun...with Aj taking the brunt..... :)....sujith as usual did his Houdini act the moment he entered....atleast he came....su pulled out at the last moment...vodko not reachable...well...after aj and sujith left...we had some chat.... and came home...and blah..and blah...

Ebrahim Saheb Street- A Foodies delight

A couple of weeks ago, my friend and I were roaming around aimlessly (like we always do…. No sense of direction, whatsoever!) And found ourselves in the back alleys of Commercial Street. The name sounded familiar… Ebrahim Saheb Street… I think my mother would go there to shop for intricate embroided dress materials… (Why I am even talking about embroidery.?!?) Anyways, the surprising thing about the street in reference is that it has a large number of roadside eateries with a large variety… from jalebis, to churmur chat and the quintessential South Indian delicacy, Idlis and Dosas. The street reminded me of the “Parathe Waali Galli” in good ol’ Dilli, only much M-U-C-H smaller… (Sorry dilli wallas, if I have offended you…. Just a mild comparison…. I might be wrong…. Very wrong)

The only thing that amazed me was that I hadn’t heard about these Idli and Dosa joints before, being a Bangalorean all my life (Shame!!). We decided to start the proceedings with the soft Idlis and some chutney (very hot!). In no time we had gobbled up about half a dozen of ‘em….. We then went for a Dosa with generous amounts of clarified butter and dollops of white butter thrown in at the end…. I must say, the Dosas were indeed good. We also tried a Dosa with onions thrown in and oh…. Not to forget the vadas that acted as fillers while waiting for the dosas! Quite a meal for a hungry twosome…. The important thing is, we didn’t spend too much money and the food was a zillion times better than the thrash which is dished out in those stinky “Darshinis” (I despise those places…. Why is the sambar sweet, for cryin out loud?). People, who are paranoid about eating on the street, don’t worry, because, I am pretty sensitive too and it didn’t throw my bowel movements outta gear….. ;) For dessert we wound up at Bhagatrams, made famous by their DELICIOUS Gulab Jamuns and Gajar Halwas…. I think I have been going to Bhagatrams for as long as I can remember…. The gulab jamuns taste just the same… I hope it stays that way….

To wrap things up, I will go with three out of Five for the Dosa joints at Ebrahim Saheb Street (We didn’t explore too much though). I think the next time, I will make it a point to try some jalebis at a shop close to the Dosa place….

2 Weeks!!!..phew!!!

Hi..its been a long 2 weeks ...with a lot of birthdays.. movies...and a farewell.....just recounting them...

2 saturdays back....
Angie got a seat in the Pondy university....Msc...so all of us..(i,e the ISC gang..)...went to see her off....it was a kind of a renunion..atleast...met one of my school friend after some time... went to Chungs in new BEL road ...went late as usual..and ms punctual was kinda angry with me....and then we orderd like crazy and then wasted like crazy...it was not a soap story kind of a farewell...but nevertheless....was kinda !!!!....Adieu... angie and suhaib

The following monday....
Prologue - Two weekend days of non stop action....farewell...friends at home....buying gift at brigade...loafing in brigade....eating at ponnusamy's......so basically...blue..a real blue monday morning..

Sleeping sound at 7:15 am...Sam calls up and tells me to bunk...i tell him not possible ..i will get screwed at office..and then i GET UP.....i call him back at 7:30 and tell him i am bunking....yay!!!...so we decided to go to forum...u know the de facto was that he wanted to give his bike for service near that place.. :) ..so we leave around 11:00 with the 'jobless su'(in retrospect.....'2 weeks later job in waiting su')...went to forum...and did the most obvious thing..window shop.....and then harsha the bob met up...while we were having coffee at CCD....ha d toffee coffee(will tell sam to give review of that :) ...time at 1:00 pm...so while all this was happ...preetha acting sick....to leave office in the afternoon...and then surprise surprise....Nithin had bunked office already ..talk about friends...so all of us reached...went to a restaurant..Popsy's i think....ok food!!....then ..yeah almost forgot...we were planning to go for a movie...Sivaji....after finding that it was houseful in forum......went to the faithful mukunda...and my god it was also houseful....bought the tickets in black....150 bucks..i already watched the first time for 500 ....so u know...anyway all of us watched the movie.. ..they all came home after that......thats abt the day!!!!

My parents were married 29 yrs ago on this day....so celebrations...i did not buy anything for them..kinda feeling sheepish....so had a nice dinner with my family and cousins....chap...chicken..mutton...rice..lip smacking!!!...

Friday the thirteenth....
My sis..when she was born...was also born on friday the 13.... :) ...nice satan..oops sis i have..so i gave her the gift.....a nikon s200... she was happy..but my bro-in-law was even more...went to dinner...mukaal chinese...the food was really good....so was the prices... :)...anyway it was a huge crowd...from family to friends... anyway Happy Birthday Sis!!!




Saturday the 14th..
Decided to go to the consultancy that day...finally....aj and myself went Chopras..these guys seem ok...professional enough.,...but aj hero still skeptical.....anyway got quite a bit of information....still have not started working on it..... and then we went to have snacks...and boy what a feast we had... we went to abraham sahib street(m not sure if this is the name of the road..anyway its the parallel road to comm street !!)...we had plain dosas....and then idlis and then onion dosa interspersed with vadas here and there(aj shd give review of the place!!!)...and then we went bhagathrams for the quintessential jamoons...next picked up rajesh and all of us came to my place...boys sleep over party....watched chennai 600028 yet again...its a crazy movie...lot of things to review...

The Sunday Trip..
Oh btw...friday was also su's birthday....so the rule prevails....hehehe....so sunday was treat day...so we all decided to go to 9th mile dhaba...after a lot of confusion....went there by 3:30 ....only to find that the place was only buffet that day...and that too for an exhoribant price...
and that too only upto 4:00....so bleep...next went reliable green park dhaba on jakkur road...was completely full..but some dude went and flicked chairs and table from the next hotel(just kidding...but seriously!!)..and so that was settles..but imagine having a rain literally stop ur lunch...:|.... anyway she decided to play it cool...so had a nice lunch(we were hungry!!!) ..no treat of course...got postponed...(i dont think it will ever happen :( )....and then back to nandans house...cut the Cake for both ganu and su...and then played cards till evening...and then left home..... appaadi!! ....




Yesterday
Watched Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix ...nice movie...little dark and slow..but nevertheless...nice movie...the headmistress was too good...and too damn true...!! :)...

and ..yeah....phew!!!!

Rendezvous With Nature..

The famous sunday trip was planned today...we decided to go to melkotai....had been to this place a long time ago...and i wanted to go there....and also know why mani 'sir' has got such a predeliction to this place....

The Trip!!!
We started around 9:30....two cars for 6 people..bad idea...fun and comfortable at first ...but about the economics...it was a real crap idea...no more abt it !!....anyway enetered mysore road..at 10:00 ... broke our fast at lokaruchi (ok restaurant..but the only decent place int that road!!!..)....and then took a right from mandya circle towards melkotai...(36k frm there!!!)...and then it started...The weather was just too good...cloudy ..not so gloomy...cool and breezy ,almost windy....the route was completely desserted...just wheatgrass on the road..cows and a water stream (personally thank god for all this...esp the desserted part!!!)...just the odd vehicle...we wanted to stop everywhere and take photos.. :) ... we reached by 12:15...
Confusion galore...we missed nandan's car (very easy to....just blink ur eyes!!)...and they went to some temple..and we went to some temple...we had the darshan...nice temple(its in the city and not on the hill..).....and then nandan on his 'searchin for us' endeavor...found us...!! and finally we ended up scolding him telling him that this was the main temple... :) ... and then went to the 'main' temple (on the hill)..parked with difficulty...(yes!!! yes!! ...parking problems!!!...)...climbed some real steep(read cruel) steps...and then enetred the temple...nothing like the other temple..it had some sheets in the rock...kinda diff...and then just went exploring the place ..and then found a dude near the entrance to the cave...

Cave..
I am claustrophobic...but that did not deter me from going inside the cave...it was fun at frst ...dark and trying to grope around..hoping to find someone...u know filmi style... :)....anyway it was ok....and then it started getting narower...narrower!!....i am not thin..but i am not fat...so u know narrower directly translates to trouble..anyway crossed that hurdle with some difficulty...(from my friends that is...)...and then immd what do we find???...and even narrower passage... .. paranoia sets in... with lot of self assurane that i wont die of choking in a room filled with friends who make obscene jokes at u .. i cross that as well...u have to real flat to cross that...and move like a slug...and then the ordeal was over...phew...

Pillars.
This place is very famous ...it comes in many movies..dalapathi..lot of scenes and rakamma song....padiyappa...the famous theerpu place...it comes in other movies as well...its actually a nothing place...just 4 pillars coming out of nowhere..going nowhere......but still...its got some kind of atttraction to it...and then we climb to the top of it...and then boy...the wind...it just blew us away...literally....i was struggling to keep my feet....and after all the photos..we left..not b4 mom nature gives us somethin to remember the place...a drizzle ..more like a water spray out of barbers water bottle....
The concept of a cloudy..windy...cool day with a tryst of that spary..just was too too good to digest...

If u ever plan a gr8 trip to somewhere...and want to actually come back...make sure u dont hit mysore-magadir oad in bangalore at any time b/w 4-9 pm..its awful..and can have detrimental effects on ur sanity....
